The ability to send a URL with money in it via any written form of digital communication.
Mineable without a Computer
Ability to earn mining rewards without having a personal computer or specialized/advancing mining hardware.

Promotes a healthy community by requiring each new user be invited and screened by an existing user.
Alias System
Sendable via an alias such as @Meritlover for convenience.
Indestructible
A fail-safe mechanism to ensure that Money can never be sent to an unrecoverable address.
Cancellable Transactions
The ability for the sender of a transaction to cancel it after it has been sent, but before it has been accepted.
Growth Mining
Rewarding those who grow the community through a mining reward.
Decentralized Vaults
A blockchain-based vault that enables users to protect their assets through whitlelists, rate-limits, and additional forms of authentication.
No ICO, Presale or Venture funding
Instead of selling the token before the system works in production, built a working system that grows organically.
Security Mining

Proof-of-Work
Mining nodes achieve consensus each block by agreeing on the winner of a difficult computational excercise that any one node has a low probability of solving.
Memory-Bound Proofs
Proofs that use an algorithm that is memory-bound, thereby reducing power consumption and heat dissapation.

Decentralized Account Recovery
The ability to rely on multiple peers to recover a Vault in the case of a lost or stolen private key.
In progress.
Smart Contracts
The ability to store 'state' on the blockchain, empowering the creation of destributed applications or intelligent contracts.
Limited; based on OP Codes.
In progress.
Merit was fast. Blocks were issued every minute, which meant fast confirmations and the ability to engage in multiple transactions in quick succession. This created a robust foundation for the easy sharing and growth mining that Merit enabled.

MAXIMUM TRANSACTION THROUGHPUT
Merit managed to add a lot of usability and innovation to the protocol without sacrificing throughput.
Core to creating a digital currency that was more convenient than classic banking solutions was ensuring that users were not stuck waiting hours for transactions to flow through the system. Merit, on day one, had a maximum throughput that was 50 times greater than Bitcoin's. This was particularly exciting when one took into account how many additional features Merit possessed.
